Nia Cruz

is a photographer and part-time designer with a strong focus on storytelling through visual media. She has designed for Pirate Media 1, earning recognition from the North Carolina College Media Association for Best Two-Page Spread in Rebel Magazine. Also, earning an award for 2nd place in creative storytelling in 2023 from the North Carolina College Media Association.

Her photography is conceptually grounded in real-world issues, especially the lived experiences of mixed-race individuals navigating cultural identity and community. Nia has also collaborated with organizations like Women Strike NC, documenting their work and being invited to photograph their march in October 2024.

From 2023 through Fall 2024, she served as a creative director before transitioning into a social media management role at Pirate Media 1. She also in 2025, earned an internship at the Washington Daily News as a Reporter.

Nia is committed to creating work that is not only visually compelling but also sparks meaningful conversations around social issues. Through her lens, she invites viewers to reflect, question, and engage with the world around them.
